Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, sleepy town. A lot of people who aren't aware of they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. It is often cited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay in the city was brief. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she had. In a recent interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." As I grew older than my male companions, I quit. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation from her high school teacher of drama. She was a teacher at the time who advised her to go after a role in the annual school production. Following a trial, she ended up as the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare occasions in the first season of The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian participant.
